Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(גַּבְעוֹל, gibol', the calyx or corolla of flowers), a participial adjective from the old word boll, signifying pod or capsule; applied to the blossoms of flax (q.v.) in Exodus 9:31.
