Cassentino, Jacopo Di

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

an Italian painter, was born about 1270, and studied under Taddeo Gaddi he founded the Florentine Academy in 1350. His most memorable work was St. Luke Painting the Portrait of the Virgin, painted for the chapel of the academy. We died in 1356. See Spooner, Biog. Hist. of the Fine Arts, s.v.; Rose, Gen. Biog.
