Hacker, Johann Georg August

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Protestant theologian of Germany, was born at Dresden, January 24, 1762. He studied at Wittenberg, was in 1784 preacher at Torgau, in 1790 garrison-preacher at Dresden, in 1796 court-preacher there, and died Feb. 21, 1823, leaving Diss. Inauguralis de Descensu Christi ad Inferos (Wittenberg, 1802), and several volumes of sermons. See Doring, Deutsche Kanzelredner; Winer, candbuch der theol.
