a learned English divine, was born in London in 1716, and was educated at King's College, Cambridge, where he became a fellow in 1738. In 1750 he was collated to the rectory of Harbledown, and soon after to the vicarage of Herne. He was presented to the vicarage of East Peckham in 1756, and was at the same time librarian of Lambeth.
