Helbah

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Heb. Chelbah', חֶלְבָּה , fatness; Sept. Ε᾿λβά v.r. Χεβδά and Σχεδία), a town in the tribe of Asher, from which the Canaanites were not expelled, mentioned between Achzib and Aphik (Judges 1:31); but not (as Gesenius suggests) identical with Ahlab, which is also mentioned in the same verse. Perhaps it was situated in some fertile tract (as the names imply) in the valley of the Kishon, possibly at Ilaifit.
