Jacubus

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Ι᾿άκουβος v. r. Ι᾿άρσουβος, Vulg. Aecubus), given in the Apocrypha (1 Esdras 9:48) as the name of one of the Levites who supported Ezra in reading the law; evidently the AKKUB (See AKKUB) (q.v.) of the corresponding Heb. text (Nehemiah 8:7).
