Joyner, James E.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Amherst County, Va., and died at his own home in Henly County, Va., March 15, 1868. For more than thirty years Joyner served the Church with great acceptability and usefulness in various appointments. His preaching was earnest, pointed, and eminently practical During the late war he served as a chaplain in the Confederate States army, and exerted among the officers and men an influence for good which was felt and acknowledged by all.
