Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(prop. בָּצַיר, batsir), the season of ingathering of the grape (Leviticus 26:5; Isaiah 24:13, etc.), which of course was one of hilarity. (See HARVEST). The produce of the wine-crop is denoted by the term תַּרוֹשׁ, tirosh, "new wine." (See WINE). For the operations of the vintage (Heuvel, De Vindemia Vet. Hebrceor. [Tr. ad Rh. 1755]), (See VINE).
