Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(Gr. Γυπαῖος ), in Greek mythology, is a surname under which a temple was built for Apollo, by a shepherd, because the god had saved him, by vultures, from death in a large deep cave.
