A Canaanite town, the king of which Joshua slew (Joshua 12:18), probably now Saruneh, S.W. of Tiberius. The la- prefix marks the district, its absence the town (Gesenius). In the Egyptian traveler's account (Hieratic papyrus, British Museum, 1842) Saruna answers to Saruneh; now Sirin in the region called Sarona, between Mount Tabor and lake Tiberius.
