(hoh' ham) Personal name of uncertain meaning, perhaps related to “unlucky.” King of Hebron who joined forces with the king of Jerusalem to punish Gibeon for making an alliance with Joshua (Joshua 10:3 ). He was one of five kings shut in cave, used to show Israel's superiority over the kings by the symbol of Israel's captains putting their feet on the kings' necks, and then killed and hung on a tree (Joshua 10:15-26 ). Thus Joshua gained control of the south, destroying Hebron (Joshua 10:36-37 ).
