Harvested grain bound together into a bundle. English translation of three Hebrew terms. Joseph's dream featured sheaves still in the field (Genesis 37:7 ). Laws of sacrifice called for the first harvested sheaves to be sacrificed (Leviticus 23:10-15 ). Some sheaves were for gleaners (Deuteronomy 24:19; Ruth 2:7 ). The prophets used sheaves as figures of judgment (Jeremiah 9:22; Amos 2:13; Micah 4:12; Zechariah 12:6 ). See Agriculture; Gleaning; Grain; Harvest; Sacrifice.
