Near Dumfries, Scotland. Founded, 1275, by Lady Devorgilla, to keep in it the heart of her husband, King John Baliol. It is the last in order of the Cistercian abbeys in Scotland. Gilbert Broun was its most celebrated superior. Possession of the confiscated abbey passed into the hands of Sir John Spottiswoode, 1624. Only part of the abbey remains today.
