(1588-1641) Ecclesiastic, surnamed "the poor priest," born Dijon, France; died Paris, France. After studying under the Jesuits at Dôle, he went to Paris, became a priest, and devoted his immense fortune to the poor, the sick, and the imprisoned. He founded the seminary of the Trente-Trois for educating poor students for the priesthood, and popularized the prayer "Memorare" (Remember O Most Pious Virgin).
