Fourth Sunday in Lent named from the first words of the Introit; also called Golden Rose, Mediana, Mothering, and Rose Sunday. Celebrated in joyful spirit because the observance of Lent is half over, rose-colored vestments are worn instead of purple, and flowers are allowed on the altar.
