the name of two men.

1. (Heb. Asiel/, עֲשִׂיאֵל, created by God; Sept. Ἀσιήλ .) The father of Seraiah, and progenitor of one of the Simeonite chiefs that expelled the Hamite aboriaines from the fertile valleys near Gedor in the time of Hezekiah (1 Chronicles 4:35). B.C. ante 712.

2. (Vulg. Asiel, for the Greek text is not extant.) The last named of the five scribes whom the divine voice is represented, in the fanciful vision of 2 Esdras 14:24, as directing Ezra to bring for the purpose of recording the revelation about to be communicated to him.
