(שַׁרְיוֹן, shiryon', glittering) occurs in the description of Goliath's armor (1 Samuel 17:5), and also of Saul's (1 Samuel 17:38). (See ARMOR). The plural forms are found in Nehemiah 4:16; 2 Chronicles 26:14; where they are translated "habergeons" (q.v.). The kindred terms, שַׁרְיָה (shiryah', " habergeon," Job 41:26), שִׁרְיָן (shiryan', "harness," 1 Kings 22:34; 2 Chronicles 18:33; "breast-plate," Isaiah 59:17), and סַרְיוֹן (siryon', "brigandines," Jeremiah 46:4; Jeremiah 51:3), were probably less complete kinds of the same, i.e. corslets. (See MAIL).
