But now you glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.

But above all things, my brothers, don't swear, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yes be yes, and your no, no; that you may not fall under judgment.

To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they were providing these things, which now have been announced to you through those that preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

but like he who called you is holy, be yourselves also holy in all manner of living;

but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, [even the blood] of Christ:

who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake,

having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and abides.

But the word of the Lord abides forever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached to you.

to whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,

For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

But you are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God's] own possession, that you may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as slaves of God.

Household slaves, [be] in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

For what glory is it, if, when you sin, and are buffeted [for it], you shall take it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer [for it], you shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered did not threaten; but committed [himself] to him that judges righteously:

For you were going astray like sheep; but have now returned to the Shepherd and overseer of your souls.

but [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [apparel] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary blessing; for hereunto were you called, that you should inherit a blessing.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And his ears to their supplication: But the face of the Lord is on those that do evil.
