I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.

And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.

But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.

If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?

Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.

And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.

If anyone says, "I love God," but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ-not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.

The elder, To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth-and not I alone, but also all who know the truth-

And now I urge you, dear lady-not as a new commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning-that we love one another.

If anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even greet him.

I have many things to write you, but I would prefer not to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come and speak with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

I have written to the church about this, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not accept our instruction.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

I have many things to write you, but I would prefer not to do so with pen and ink.

And the angels who did not stay within their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling-these He has kept in eternal chains under darkness, bound for judgment on that great day.

But even the archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not presume to bring a slanderous judgment against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"
