Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven's Armies says concerning the prophets: "I will feed them with bitterness and give them poison to drink. For it is because of Jerusalem's prophets that wickedness has filled this land."

But suppose they respond, ‘This is a prophecy from the Lord !' Then you should say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Because you have used this phrase, "prophecy from the Lord ," even though I warned you not to use it,

And now the Lord of Heaven's Armies says: Because you have not listened to me,

Perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil ways. Then I will change my mind about the disaster I am ready to pour out on them because of their sins.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says: ‘You must die. Your life will end this very year because you have rebelled against the Lord .'"

Why do you protest your punishment— this wound that has no cure? I have had to punish you because your sins are many and your guilt is great.

They will come home and sing songs of joy on the heights of Jerusalem. They will be radiant because of the Lord 's good gifts— the abundant crops of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the healthy flocks and herds. Their life will be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows will be gone.

You expect to fight the Babylonians, but the men of this city are already as good as dead, for I have determined to destroy them in my terrible anger. I have abandoned them because of all their wickedness.
