And the boys grew up; and Esau became an expert hunter, a man of outdoor life; but Jacob was a simple man, living in a tent.

And Isaac was fond of Esau, because he ate of Esaus game; but Rebekah was fond of Jacob.

Then he moved from there, and dug another well; but over that they did not quarrel; and he called the name of it Rehoboth (to enlarge); and he said, For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall multiply in the land.

That you will do us no evil, just as we have not hurt you, and as we have done nothing but good to you, and have sent you away in peace; you are now the blessed of the LORD.

And Jacob drew near to Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacobs voice, but the hands are Esaus.

But he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy, like his brother Esaus hands; so he blessed him.

But his father said, Your brother came with deceit, and has already received your blessing.

And by your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but if you shall repent, his yoke shall pass away from off your neck.

And Jacob was exceedingly fearful, and he said, How sacred is this place today! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

Then Jacob called the name of that place Beth-el (the house of God); but at the first the name of that place was called Luz.

And Leah had attractive eyes; but Rachel was beautiful and well favored.

Thus Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed to him but a few days because he was in love with her.

And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.

But Leah said to her, Is it not enough for you that you have taken away my husband? And would you take away my sows mandrakes also? And Rachel said, He may lie with you tonight for your sons mandrakes.

But when the sheep were feeble, he did not put the rods in; so the feebler were Labans and the stronger Jacobs.

And said to them, I see that your fathers countenance toward me is not as it has been yesterday and the day before; but the God of my father has been with me.

And yet your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God has not permitted him to hurt me.

I could have done you harm, but the God of your fathers said to me last evening, Take heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

And Laban went into Jacobs tent and into Leahs tent and into the tent of the two maidservants; but he did not find the gods. So he went out of Leahs tent into Rachels tent.

Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camels saddle bag, and sat upon them. And Laban had searched all the tent, but did not find them.
