Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were two days away, and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a covert way to arrest Jesus and kill Him.

While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, scribes, and elders.

They led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders, and scribes assembled.

Early in the morning, the chief priests, elders, scribes, and the whole Sanhedrin devised a plan. They bound Jesus, led Him away, and handed Him over to Pilate.

In the same way, the chief priests and scribes mocked Him among themselves, saying, "He saved others, but He cannot save Himself!

But the scribes and Pharisees began to contemplate this and ask, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"

But the Pharisees and their scribes complained to Jesus' disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"

Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, the scribes and Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He would heal on the Sabbath.

But the scribes and Pharisees were filled with rage and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

"The Son of Man must suffer many things," He said. "He must be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life."

As Jesus went on from there, the scribes and Pharisees began to oppose Him bitterly and to ply Him with questions about many things,

So the Pharisees and scribes began to grumble: "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."

Jesus was teaching at the temple every day, but the chief priests, scribes, and leaders of the people were intent on killing Him.

One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and scribes, together with the elders, came up to Him.

When the scribes and chief priests realized that Jesus had spoken this parable against them, they sought to arrest Him that very hour. But they were afraid of the people.

Some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well!"

"Beware of the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, and they love the greetings in the marketplaces, the chief seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at banquets.

and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a way to put Jesus to death; for they feared the people.

At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, met together. They led Jesus into their council and said,

Meanwhile, the chief priests and scribes stood there, vehemently accusing Him.
