Or do you think the Scripture means nothing when it says that the Spirit that Godhe">[fn] caused to live in us jealously yearns for us?Exodus 20:5; Numbers 11:29">[fn]Genesis 6:5; 8:21; Numbers 11:29; Proverbs 21:10;">[xr]

and if he did not spare the ancient world but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others when he brought the flood on the world of ungodly people;Genesis 7:1,7, 23; Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:19-20; 2 Peter 3:6;">[xr]

and if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and destroyed them by burning them to ashes, making them an example to ungodly people of what is going to happen to them;Genesis 19:24; Numbers 26:10; Deuteronomy 29:23; Jude 1:7;">[xr]

But they deliberately ignore the fact that long ago the heavens existed and the earth was formed by God's word out of water and with water,Genesis 1:6,9; Psalm 24:2; 33:6; 136:6; Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 11:3;">[xr]

'Let the person who has an ear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To everyone who conquers I will give the privilege of eating from the tree of life that is in the paradise of God.'"Genesis 2:9; Matthew 11:15; Revelation 3:6,13, 22;">[xr]

"You are worthy, our Lord and God,Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 5:12; 10:6;">[xr] to receive glory, honor, and power, because you created all things, and they came into existence and were created because of your will."

If anyone is to be taken captive,Genesis 9:6; Isaiah 33:1; Matthew 26:52; Revelation 14:12;">[xr] he must go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with a sword, he must be killed with a sword. This is what the endurance and faith of the saints means.
