But Abishai the son of Zoriah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORDS anointed?

And David said, What is it to me and to you, you sons of Zoriah, that you should this day be deceivers to me? Shall any man be put to death this day in Israel? For do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?

Mephibosheth answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for I said to him, Saddle me an ass that I may ride upon it and go with my lord the king; because your servant is lame.

For all of my fathers house were worthy of death before my lord the king; yet you counted your servant among those who eat at your table. Now therefore I cannot justify myself, neither speak before my lord the king.

Now Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old; and he had provided the king with food while he remained at Mahanaim; for he was a very wealthy man.

And the king said, Bimham shall go over with me and I will do to him that which seems good to you; and whatever you shall ask of me, that will I do for you.

THEN there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered. It is because of Saul and because of his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

Wherefore David said to the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make an atonement to you, that you may bless the heritage of the LORD?

And the Gibeonites said to him, It is not silver and gold that Saul and his house owe us; neither do we wish to kill any one in Israel. And he said to them, Whatever you shall say, that will I do for you.

For the pangs of death have compassed me, the torrents of ungodly men made me afraid;

He delivered me from my strong enemies and from them that hated me; for they were too strong for me.

For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not rebelled against my God.

For all his judgments were before me; and his statutes I have not put away from me.

For thou wilt save the afflicted people; and the proud ones thou wilt bring down.

For thou wilt light my lamp; O LORD my God, lighten my darkness.

For by thee I can run against a band of robbers; by the help of my God I have leaped over a wall.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried; he succors all who trust in him.

For there is no God except the LORD. And there is no one who is mighty but our God.

Thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; thou hast made them that rise up against me to be subdued under me.

He gives great salvation to his king and shows mercy to his anointed, to David and to his descendants for ever.
