This is the genealogy of Yeshua the Messiah, son of David, son of Avraham (Matthew 1:1).

Other than Jerusalem, Hebron is probably the most important city mentioned in Scripture. Though numerous passages could be cited regarding this ancient place, the most significant ones are found in Genesis 15,2 Samuel 5. In the former, it is mentioned as the place where Abraham believed God and his faith was reckoned to him as righteousness. It was also the location of the actual cutting of the covenant between God and Abraham. The latter passage indicates that Hebron is the place where David was made king over the entire nation of Israel.

It is clear that the establishment of the Abrahamic covenant, which created the Jewish people, and the establishment of the Davidic dynasty are foundational, not only for Israel, but for all believers. The opening words of the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant Scriptures) inextricably connect Yeshua with both Avraham (Abraham) and David, and therefore, with these two events which occurred in Hebron. Yeshua is the representative of the Jewish people and also the king of Israel. He is the quintessential Israelite and the greater Son of David. All that he has accomplished and all that he will bring about rests on the foundations laid through these two men in Hebron.

Thus, even the very first verse of the Brit Chadashah recognizes that it is impossible to accurately understand the work of Yeshua without seeing the historical, national and spiritual womb from which he was born.

Let us not ignore the history which brought forth the characters and events whose far-reaching significance affect believers even to this day.

...remember that God does not work in a vacuum. What he does today and tomorrow has roots in what he has done in the past.
