Hareth

Holman Bible Dictionary

(hay' rehth) Place name meaning, “woodland.” Forest where David went at advice of Gad, the prophet, as he hid from Saul (1 Samuel 22:5 ). It was in Judah, but the exact location is debated. Some students place it at khirbet Khoreisa two miles south of Ziph and about six miles southeast of Hebron. Others think it is near the village of Kharas near Keilah. For modern translations' spelling, see Hereth .
