Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words

(Strong's #1085 — Noun Neuter — genos — ghen'-os )

properly denotes "an offspring;" then, "a family;" then, "a race, nation;" otherwise, "a kind or species;" it is translated "countrymen," in 2 Corinthians 11:26 , in Paul's reference to his fellow-nationals; so in Galatians 1:14 , RV, for AV, "nation." See BEGET.

2: συμφυλέτης

(Strong's #4853 — Noun Masculine — sumphuletes — soom-foo-let'-ace )

lit., "a fellow-tribesman" (sun, "with," phule, "a tribe, race, nation, people"), hence, one who is of the same people, a fellow-countryman, is found in 1 Thessalonians 2:14 .
