(behth-ay' nath) Place name meaning, “house of Anath.” A fortified city in the territory of the tribe of Naphtali (Joshua 19:38 ). The tribe could not drive out the Canaanites from the city (Judges 1:33 ). Beth-anath was apparently a worship center for the Canaanite goddess Anath. It may have been located at modern Safed el-Battik, fifteen miles east of Tyre.
