; TRYPHOSA (tree fee' nuh; tree foh' ssuh) personal names meaning, “dainty” and “delicate.” Two women whom Paul greeted as “workers in the Lord” (Romans 16:12 ). The two were perhaps deacons serving the Roman church (compare Phoebe in Romans 16:1 NRSV) or else “marketplace” evangelists like Priscilla ( Acts 18:26; Romans 16:3 ). The similarity of their names suggests the two were perhaps (twin) sisters.
