Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(Chald. Mladaya', מָדָיא, marg. מָדָאָה; Sept. ὁ Μῆδος, Vulg. Medus), a patrial epithet of Darius, "the son of Ahasueras, of the seed of the Medes" (Daniel 9:1), or " the Mede" (Daniel 11:1), as described in Daniel 11:31. (See MEDE).
