Water From the Rock

In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin,(a) and they stayed at Kadesh.(b) There Miriam(c) died and was buried.

Arad Destroyed

When the Canaanite king of Arad,(a) who lived in the Negev,(b) heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked the Israelites and captured some of them.

Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes,(ah) and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.
