By ^(C1)the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and ^(C2)He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created ^(F1)and made.

"See, ^(F1)the LORD has given you the Sabbath; for that reason He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain, everyone, in his place; no one is to leave his place on the seventh day."

So the people rested on the seventh day.

"^(C1)For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

"^(C1)For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as the stranger residing with you, may refresh themselves.

"^(C1)It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; ^(C2)for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed."

but ^(C1)the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God; you shall not do any work that day, you or your son or your daughter, or your male slave or your female slave, or your ox, your donkey, or any of your cattle, or your ^(F1)resident who ^(F2)stays with you, so that your male slave and your female slave may rest as well as you.

"^(C1)Come to Me, all ^(F1)who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

"Take My yoke upon you and ^(C1)learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ^(C2)YOU WILL FIND ^(F1)REST FOR YOUR SOULS.

"For ^(C1)My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light."

Therefore, we must fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have ^(C1)come short of it.

For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also did; but ^(C1)the word ^(F1)they heard did not benefit them, because ^(F2)they were not united with those who listened with faith.

For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "^(C1)AS I SWORE IN MY ANGER, THEY CERTAINLY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished ^(C2)from the foundation of the world.

Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who previously had good news preached to them failed to enter because of ^(C1)disobedience,

He again sets a certain day, "Today," saying ^(F1)through David after so long a time just ^(C1)as has been said before, "^(C2)TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS."

For ^(C1)if ^(F1)Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.

Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write: '^(C1)Blessed are the dead who ^(C2)die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," ^(C3)says the Spirit, "so that they may ^(C4)rest from their labors, for their ^(C5)deeds follow with them."
