Now the divisions of the descendants of Aaron were these: the sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

But Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.

But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office.

David, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their offices for their ministry.

And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.

Since more chief men were found from the descendants of Eleazar than the descendants of Ithamar, they divided them this way: there were sixteen heads of fathers' households of the descendants of Eleazar, and eight of the descendants of Ithamar according to their fathers' households.

And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.

So they were divided by lot, the one as the other; for they were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God, both from the descendants of Eleazar and the descendants of Ithamar.

Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel the scribe, from the Levites, recorded them in the presence of the king, the leaders, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers' households of the priests and the Levites; one father's household taken for Eleazar and one taken for Ithamar.

And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.

Now the first lot came out for Jehoiarib, the second for Jedaiah,

the fifth for Malchijah, the sixth for Mijamin,

the seventh for Hakkoz, the eighth for Abijah,

The seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,

the ninth for Jeshua, the tenth for Shecaniah,

The ninth to Jeshuah, the tenth to Shecaniah,

the eleventh for Eliashib, the twelfth for Jakim,

The eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,

the thirteenth for Huppah, the fourteenth for Jeshebeab,

The thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,

the fifteenth for Bilgah, the sixteenth for Immer,

The fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,

the seventeenth for Hezir, the eighteenth for Happizzez,

The seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Aphses,

the nineteenth for Pethahiah, the twentieth for Jehezkel,

The nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel,

the twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamul,

The one and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul,

the twenty-third for Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth for Maaziah.

The three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.

These were their offices for their ministry when they entered the house of the LORD according to the ordinance given to them through their father Aaron, just as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.

These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the Lord , according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded him.
