Cursed be the day when I was born; May the day when my mother gave birth to me not be blessed!
Jeremiah 20:14
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
Cursed be the man who brought the news To my father, saying, "A boy has been born to you!" And made him very happy.
Jeremiah 20:15
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
But may that man be like the cities Which the LORD overthrew without relenting, And may he hear an outcry in the morning And an alarm for war at noon;
Jeremiah 20:16
And let that man be as the cities which the Lord overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
Because he did not kill me before birth, So that my mother would have been my grave, And her womb forever pregnant.
Jeremiah 20:17
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
Why did I ever come out of the womb To look at trouble and sorrow, So that my days have been spent in shame?
Jeremiah 20:18
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
