Again, there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD.
Job 2:1
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord , and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord .
The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."
Job 2:2
And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord , and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds firm to his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause."
Job 2:3
And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has, he will give for his life.
Job 2:4
And Satan answered the Lord , and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
"However, reach out with Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face!"
Job 2:5
But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
So the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life."
Job 2:6
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and struck Job with severe boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.
Job 2:7
So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord , and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
And Job took a piece of pottery to scrape himself while he was sitting in the ashes.
Job 2:8
And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold firm your integrity? Curse God and die!"
Job 2:9
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
