A ruler questioned Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
Luke 18:18
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
But Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.
Luke 18:19
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
"You know the commandments, 'DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT GIVE FALSE TESTIMONY, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'"
Luke 18:20
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
And he said, "All these things I have kept since my youth."
Luke 18:21
And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
Now when Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Luke 18:22
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.

And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!

And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
"For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!"
Luke 18:25
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Those who heard Him said, "And so who can be saved?"
Luke 18:26
And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
But He said, "The things that are impossible with people are possible with God."
Luke 18:27
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Peter said, "Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You."
Luke 18:28
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God,
Luke 18:29
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
who will not receive many times as much at this time, and in the age to come, eternal life."
Luke 18:30
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
