And it was in the seventh year, in the fifth month , the tenth of the month, men came from the elders of Israel to inquire of Jehovah, and sat before me.
Ezekiel 20:2

And the Word of Jehovah was to me, saying,
Ezekiel 20:3

Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.
Ezekiel 20:4

Will you judge them , will you judge, son of man? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers.
Ezekiel 20:5

And say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: In the day I chose Israel and lifted My hand to the seed of the house of Jacob, and I was made known to them in the land of Egypt, when I liftedup My hand to them, saying, I am Jehovahyour God.

In that day I lifted up My hand to them to bring them out from the land of Egypt into a land flowing with milk and honey that I had searched out for them, the glory of it is to all lands.
Ezekiel 20:7

Then I said to them, Let each man cast away the filthy idols of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God.

But they rebelled against Me and would not listen to Me. They did not each man throw away the filthy idols of their eyes, and they did not forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, I will pour out My fury against them, to complete My anger againstthem in the midst of the land of Egypt.
Ezekiel 20:9

But I worked for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were, for I made Myself known to them in their eyes, by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
Ezekiel 20:10

I caused them to go out from the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
Ezekiel 20:11

And I gave them My statutes, and I made them know My judgments, which if a man does them, he will even live by them.

And I also gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah who sets them apart.

But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes, and they despised My judgments, which if a man does them he will even live by them. And theygreatly profaned My sabbaths. Then I said,

But I worked for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the eyes of the nations, before whom I brought them out, in their eyes.
Ezekiel 20:15

And I also lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey which I had given; it is the glory to all the lands,
Ezekiel 20:16

because they despised My judgments, and they did not walk in My statutes, and they profaned My sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.
Ezekiel 20:17

And My eye spared them, from destroying them, and I did not make an end of them in the wilderness.
Ezekiel 20:18

But I said to their sons in the wilderness, Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers and do not keep their judgments, and do not defile yourselves with their idols.
Ezekiel 20:19

I am Jehovah your God, walk in My statutes, and keep My judgments, and do them.
Ezekiel 20:20

And keep My sabbaths holy, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am Jehovah your God.
Ezekiel 20:21

But the sons rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes, and they did not keep My judgments, to do them, which if a man does them, he shall live by them. They profaned My sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out Myfury on them, to fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.
Ezekiel 20:22

But I withdrew My hand and acted for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the eyes of the nations, from whom I brought them out in their eyes.
Ezekiel 20:23

And I lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, to scatter them among the nations and sow them among the lands,
Ezekiel 20:24

because they had not done My judgments and had despised My statutes and had profaned My sabbaths. And their eyes were after their fathers' idols.
Ezekiel 20:25

Therefore I also gave them statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could not live.
Ezekiel 20:26

And I defiled them by their own gifts, by making all that open the womb to cross the fire , so that I might waste them, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah.
Ezekiel 20:27

So speak to the house of Israel, son of man, and say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed Me, by acting unfaithfully in an act of unfaithfulness against Me.

When I had brought them into the land for which I lifted up My hand, to give it to them, then they saw every high hill and every leafy tree; and they offered their sacrifices there. And theyhave their provoking offering there. Theyalso made their soothing aroma there and poured out their drink offerings there.
Ezekiel 20:29

Then I said to them, What is the high place to which you go there? And its name is called High Place to this day.
