Martyr. Born at Coniscliffe, Durham, England; died on May 29, 1583 at York, England. He graduated from Queen's College, Oxford, was ordained, at Rheims, 1579, and began his mission near York. He was arrested in 1583, professed his priesthood, was tried, and hanged. Beatified in 1886 by Pope Leo XIII.
