Hungarian portrait-painter; born June 1, 1869, at Budapest. As a highly talented student of the Model Drawing School of Budapest, he received for five years a stipend from the state, which enabled him to study portraiture at Munich with Liezen-Mayer, and atParis with Lefèvre. He first attracted attention in 1891 by his painting "Erzählende Alte Frau." His best-known portraits are those of the family of the Prince of Bulgaria; Princess Charlotte of Saxe-Meiningen; Count Arthur Schönborn; Prince Alexander Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst: King Francis Joseph I.; Bishop Fraknoi; Archduchess Isabella; Prince Hugo Dietrichstein; and Pope Leo XIII. László has embraced Christianity.
