1. wrong done, Hdt. 1.2, 100, etc.: properly, intentional wrong, opp. ἁμάρτημα and ἀτύχημα, Arist. EN 1135b20 sq., Rh. 1374b8; ἀ. ὥρισται τῷ ἑκουσίῳ Id. EN 1135a19: c. gen., wrong done to.., ἀ. τῶν νόμων D. 21.225: also ἀ. πρός τινα Arist. Rh. 1373b21; ἀ. εἴς τι D. 37.58; περί τι Plu. 2.159c: — ἐν ἀδικήματι θέσθαι to consider as a wrong, Th. 1.35; ἀ. θεῖναί τι D. 14.37; ψηφίζεσθαί τι ἐν ἀ. εἶναι Hyp. Eux. 20.

The concrete noun from ἀδικεῖν, defined in Aristotle (ap. Thayer) as τὸ ἄδικον ὅταν πραχθῇ, occurs frequently. So BGU IV. 1098.22 (i/B.C.), a marriage contract, of a ";wrong"; done to the wife (εἰς αὐτὴν ἀδίκημα), P Lille I. 29.1 (iii/B.C.) ἐὰν δέ τις περὶ ἀδικήματος ἑ [τέ ]ρο [υ ] οἰκέτηι ὄντι δίκην γραψάμενος ὡς ἐλευθέρωι καταδικάσηται, P Amh II. 33.18 (c.
