Cyr. 1.6.19 (pl.); τῆς ἀσφαλείας ἔχειν π . D. 18.281; π. μεγάλην ἔχειν ὡς εὖ ἐροῦντος ἐμοῦ Pl. Smp. 194a; τὰς τῶν ἔργων προσδοκίας ἀπαιτεῖν τινα, i.e. the fulfilment of the expectations raised, Aeschin. 2.178 .

Fig. 16: generally, τὸ παρὰ π. ἐξαπίναιον Phld. Herc. 1251.19 .
προσδοκία, προσδοκίας, ἡ (προσδοκάω), from Thucydides and Xenophon down, expectation (whether of good or of evil): joined to φόβος (Plutarch, Ant. 75: Demetr. 15) with a genitive of the object added (Winer's Grammar, § 50, 7 b.), Luke 21:26; τοῦ λαοῦ (genitive of subject), the expectation of the people respecting Peter's execution, Acts 12:11.
