סַפִּיר m. plur. ־ִים, a sapphire, a kind of gem, so called from its beauty and splendour (see the root סָפַר No. 1, 2 ), Exodus 28:18, 39:11 Job 28:6, 16 Job 28:16 (Syr. ܣܰܦܝܺܥܳ; Chald. סַמְפִּיר).
