I do finish reading a script and say, Why are they making it and what are they talking about? I like to try and be responsible in my choices in that way.

No self-respecting gay guy would have ever made some of the hair and clothing choices I am still trying to live down.

What I think of as style - and I've gotten to this over years of really thinking about it - is that style is the unconscious choices I make.

Obviously the people that I admired, like the Beatles, were really into rock'n'roll, but it was already a little past rock'n'roll when I started listening and making my own choices about music.

Also, it was a cultural moment that wasn't being represented in terms of women who were successful and had choices they didn't have before. They needed a show that they can watch that they felt like represented them.

As all human beings are, in my view, creatures of God's design, we must respect all other human beings. That does not mean I have to agree with their choices or agree with their opinions, but indeed I respect them as human beings.

One of the most important things that I have learned in my 57 years is that life is all about choices. On every journey you take, you face choices. At every fork in the road, you make a choice. And it is those decisions that shape our lives.

We must begin to make what I call 'conscious choices,' and to really recognize that we are the same. It's from that place in my heart that I write my songs.

People say I make strange choices, but they're not strange for me. My sickness is that I'm fascinated by human behavior, by what's underneath the surface, by the worlds inside people.

Was there ever in anyone's life span a point free in time, devoid of memory, a night when choice was any more than the sum of all the choices gone before?
