All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them; because of the wickedness of their doings, I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more; all their princes are rebels.

For from now they shall say, We have no king because we feared not the LORD; what then can a king do for us?

The inhabitants of Samaria shall sojourn to the shrine of the calf of Beth-aon; for they sat down mourning over it together with its priests; they shall rejoice over it, and over its glory because it is departed from it.

Even the idol itself shall be also carried to Assyria for a present to the great king; Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

He who is wise shall understand these things; he who is prudent shall know them; for the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous shall walk in them; but transgressors shall stumble therein.

Awake, O you drunkards, and weep; and howl, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

The field is plundered, the land mourns; for the wheat is plundered, the new wine is dried up, the olive orchards are destroyed.

Be ashamed, O you husbandmen; howl, O you vinedressers, howl for the wheat and for the barley because the harvest of the fields is perished.

Alas, alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as plunder from God shall it come.
