Ya`akov went near to Yitzchak his father. He felt him, and said, "The voice is Ya`akov's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esav."

Esav said to his father, "Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, my father." Esav lifted up his voice, and wept.

He called the name of that place Beit-El, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

Le'ah's eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful and well favored.

Ya`akov served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.

The LORD saw that Le'ah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.

but when the flock were feeble, he didn't put them in. So the feebler were Lavan's, and the stronger Ya`akov's.

and said to them, "I see the expression on your father's face, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

Your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God didn't allow him to hurt me.

It is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, 'Take heed to yourself that you don't speak to Ya`akov either good or bad.'

Now, you want to be gone, because you sore longed after your father's house, but why have you stolen my gods?"

Lavan went into Ya`akov's tent, into Le'ah's tent, and into the tent of the two maid-servants; but he didn't find them. He went out of Le'ah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

Now Rachel had taken the terafim, put them in the camel's saddle, and sat on them. Lavan felt about all the tent, but didn't find them.

She said to her father, "Don't let my lord be angry that I can't rise up before you; for the manner of women is on me." He searched, but didn't find the terafim.

Lavan called it Yegar-Sahaduta, but Ya`akov called it Gal`ed.

The messengers returned to Ya`akov, saying, "We came to your brother Esav. Not only that, but he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him."

You shall say, 'Not only that, but behold, your servant, Ya`akov, is behind us.'" For, he said, "I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me."

He said, "Your name will no longer be called 'Ya`akov,' but, 'Yisra'el,' for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed."

Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife."
