Go now to the flock, and fetch me from there two good young goats. And I will make savory food from them for your father, such as he loves.

And he said, Isn't he rightly named Jacob? for he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. And, look, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, Have you not reserved a blessing for me?

And Isaac answered and said to Esau, Look, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers I have given to him for slaves. And with grain and new wine I have sustained him. And what then shall I do for you, my son?

And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will slay my brother Jacob.

And, look, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken to you of.

And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.

then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you shall give me I will surely give the tenth to you.

And he looked, and noticed a well in the field, and saw three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. And the stone on the well's mouth was great.

While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep. For she kept them.

And Laban said to Jacob, Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what shall your wages be?

And Jacob loved Rachel. And he said, I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter.

And Jacob served seven years for Rachel. And they were like a few days in his eyes, for the love he had to her.

And Jacob said to Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.

And Laban gave Zilpah his female slave to his daughter Leah for a slave.

And it came to pass in the morning that, look, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, What is this you have done to me? Didn't I serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you beguiled me?

Fulfill the week of this one, and we will give you the other also for the service which you shall serve with me yet another seven years.

And Leah became pregnant, and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, Because Yahweh has looked on my affliction. For now my husband will love me.

And when Rachel saw that she did not bear for Jacob, Rachel envied her sister; and she said to Jacob, Give me sons, otherwise I will die.

And Leah said, I am happy! for the daughters will call me happy: and she named him Asher.

And she said to her, Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? and would you take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes.
