I am not worthy of the least of all the lovingkindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Yarden; and now I have become two companies.

Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esav: for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, and the mothers with the children.

He lodged there that night, and took from that which he had with him, a present for Esav, his brother:

The man said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." Ya`akov said, "I won't let you go, unless you bless me."

He said, "Your name will no longer be called 'Ya`akov,' but, 'Yisra'el,' for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed."

Ya`akov called the name of the place Peni'el: for, he said, "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."

Ya`akov journeyed to Sukkot, built himself a house, and made shelters for his cattle. Therefore the name of the place is called Sukkot.

He bought the parcel of ground, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shekhem's father, for one hundred pieces of money.

Hamor talked with them, saying, "The soul of my son, Shekhem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.

Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.

Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife."

and said to them, "We can't do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us.

"These men are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the land and trade in it. For, behold, the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.

It happened that, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, "Don't be afraid, for now you will have another son."

It happened, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni, but his father named him Binyamin.

For their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn't bear them because of their cattle.

for, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf."

His brothers said to him, "Will you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us?" They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

A certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, "What are you looking for?"
