The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man, and they bore [children] to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no [children]: and she had a female slave, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

And Sarai said to Abram, Now seeing that Yahweh has restrained me from bearing; go in, I pray you, to my slave; it may be that I shall obtain [children] by her. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

And she said, Look, my slave Bilhah, go in to her; that she may bear on my knees, and I also may obtain [children] by her.

Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go: for you know my service with which I have served you.

And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two female slaves, and his eleven children, and passed over the ford of the Jabbok.

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and noticed that Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children to Leah, and to Rachel, and to the two female slaves.

And he put the female slaves and their children first, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph last.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are these with you? And he said, The children whom God has graciously given your slave.

Then the female slaves came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

And Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves: and afterward came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

And he said to him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young: and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.

Let my lord, I pray you, pass over before his slave: and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the cattle that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord, to Seir.

And Jacob their father said to them, You have bereaved me of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and you will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

and God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. And if I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

But the midwives feared God, and didn't do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men-children alive.

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, Why have you done this thing, and have saved the men-children alive?

And she opened it, and saw the child: and, look, the baby wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

And the sons of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were [able-bodied] men, besides children.

If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
