The Lord reigns,^(a) let the nations tremble;^(b) he sits enthroned^(c) between the cherubim,^(d) let the earth shake.

Great is the Lord ^(e) in Zion;^(f) he is exalted^(g) over all the nations.

Let them praise^(h) your great and awesome name⁽ⁱ⁾— he is holy.^(j)

The King^(k) is mighty, he loves justice^(l)— you have established equity;^(m) in Jacob you have done what is just and right.⁽ⁿ⁾

Exalt^(o) the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

Moses^(p) and Aaron^(q) were among his priests, Samuel^(r) was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered^(s) them.

He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud;^(t) they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

Lord our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God,^(u) though you punished^(v) their misdeeds.^[a]

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

Shout for joy^(a) to the Lord , all the earth.

Worship the Lord ^(b) with gladness; come before him^(c) with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.^(d) It is he who made us,^(e) and we are his^[a]; we are his people,^(f) the sheep of his pasture.^(g)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving^(h) and his courts⁽ⁱ⁾ with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.^(j)

For the Lord is good^(k) and his love endures forever;^(l) his faithfulness^(m) continues through all generations.

Of David. A psalm.

I will sing of your love^(a) and justice; to you, Lord , I will sing praise.

I will be careful to lead a blameless life^(b)— when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs^(c) of my house with a blameless heart.

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.^(d) I hate what faithless people do;^(e) I will have no part in it.

The perverse of heart^(f) shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil.

Whoever slanders their neighbor^(g) in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes^(h) and a proud heart, I will not tolerate.

My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless⁽ⁱ⁾ will minister to me.

No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.

Every morning^(j) I will put to silence all the wicked^(k) in the land; I will cut off every evildoer^(l) from the city of the Lord .^(m)

A prayer of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament before the Lord .

Hear my prayer,^(a) Lord ; let my cry for help^(b) come to you.

Do not hide your face^(c) from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear^(d) to me; when I call, answer me quickly.

For my days vanish like smoke;^(e) my bones^(f) burn like glowing embers.

My heart is blighted and withered like grass;^(g) I forget to eat my food.^(h)

In my distress I groan aloud⁽ⁱ⁾ and am reduced to skin and bones.

I am like a desert owl,^(j) like an owl among the ruins.

I lie awake;^(k) I have become like a bird alone^(l) on a roof.

All day long my enemies^(m) taunt me;⁽ⁿ⁾ those who rail against me use my name as a curse.^(o)

For I eat ashes^(p) as my food and mingle my drink with tears^(q)

because of your great wrath,^(r) for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.

My days are like the evening shadow;^(s) I wither^(t) away like grass.

But you, Lord , sit enthroned forever;^(u) your renown endures^(v) through all generations.^(w)

You will arise^(x) and have compassion^(y) on Zion, for it is time^(z) to show favor^(aa) to her; the appointed time^(ab) has come.

For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity.

The nations will fear^(ac) the name of the Lord , all the kings^(ad) of the earth will revere your glory.

For the Lord will rebuild Zion^(ae) and appear in his glory.^(af)

He will respond to the prayer^(ag) of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.

Let this be written^(ah) for a future generation, that a people not yet created^(ai) may praise the Lord :

"The Lord looked down^(aj) from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth,

to hear the groans of the prisoners^(ak) and release those condemned to death."

So the name of the Lord will be declared^(al) in Zion and his praise^(am) in Jerusalem

when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship^(an) the Lord .

In the course of my life^[b] he broke my strength; he cut short my days.^(ao)

So I said: "Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days; your years go on^(ap) through all generations.

In the beginning^(aq) you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens^(ar) are the work of your hands.^(as)

They will perish,^(at) but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded.

But you remain the same,^(au) and your years will never end.^(av)

The children of your servants^(aw) will live in your presence; their descendants^(ax) will be established before you."
