I cry out with my voice to the LORD; With my voice I implore the LORD for compassion.
Psalms 142:1
I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him.
Psalms 142:2
I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
When my spirit felt weak within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.
Psalms 142:3
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me favorably; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.
Psalms 142:4
I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
I cried out to You, LORD; I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
Psalms 142:5
I cried unto thee, O Lord : I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
"Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.
Psalms 142:6
Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
"Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will look after me."
Psalms 142:7
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.
So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father's household heard about it, they went down there to him.

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.
Then everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
